What's it all about?

Sweat in the City is an exciting new initiative offering free gym membership and exclusive benefits to 3,000 young women for three months between October and December 2008.

The women who have signed up have been offered:

  • FREE gym membership worth up to £180 for twelve weeks starting week beginning the 29th September 2008.
  • Top exercise tips and advice to help them reach their goals.
  • Fortnightly group sessions at their gym with a personal trainer and other Sweat in the City women.
  • Access to an exclusive Sweat in the City members-only website - a chance for them to meet other women on the programme, post photos and 'blog' away to their heart's content. They can share their best and worst moments, support each other and even gossip about the fit bods they’ve spotted at their gym!
  • Support from an online Sweat in the City mentor - Brittany - who will be happy to answer any questions they have about the programme, big or small.

All we ask from in return is for the women to:

  • Log their progress onto the website and sharing their experiences
  • Fill out a short survey at the beginning and end of the programme
  • Try their best to attend the gym at least three times a week

We want to know all about their highs and lows, their aches and glows. What have they enjoyed about the gym and what have they found difficult? How much fitter, happier and healthier do they feel after three months of regular exercise?

Their  feedback, and that of the other girls on the project, is important to us. It will help us build a big picture of what activities young women enjoy and what motivates them to take part in regular exercise.

In a nutshell their experiences will help us to help more women enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle.
